For over a decade the Lotus Family of Restaurants (lead by Lotus Cuisine of India in San Rafael) has had an annual tradition of opening their doors and providing free meals for up to a thousand people on the night before Thanksgiving.

WHERE: Lotus Cuisine of India in San Rafael and Cafe Lotus in Fairfax.The Lotus Family of Restaurants gives back to the community by hosting our annual FREE Thanksgiving Dinner on the night before Thanksgiving.
Lotus invites anyone in our community who needs a good free meal! Please come enjoy our healthy and delicious Indian food for FREE.
This year we will again be collecting donations for our local Marin Community Food Bank. We thank all of you who can donate for your generous support.
We make sure we’ll never run out of food, no matter how many people will turn up. This is our way of GIVING THANKS to our community.
Anyone – not only those who are homeless, needy, poor, or hungry – is welcome to join us for a wonderful Thanksgiving meal.

In 2015 Diwali falls on November 11. It is observed by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists to mark different historical events, stories or myths but they all symbolize the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, hope over despair.
On November 11, 2015 Marin Green Drinks will hear from Debbie Friedman, Co-Chair of MOMS Advocating Sustainability. Debbie will give us a GMO Labeling Update. Moms Advocating Sustainability is a Bay Area based organization committed to creating healthy communities for children by reducing their exposure to household and environmental toxins. MOMS advocate for pesticide-free policies and the use of nontoxic or safer alternatives at home primarily through education and outreach to mothers and families, and also to policy makers.
Every month people who support environmentally friendly commerce meet up at the informal business mixers known as Marin Green Drinks. Come to Lotus Cuisine of India in downtown San Rafael for Marin Green Drinks and enjoy networking, free appetizers, monthly speakers and organic food, wine and beer.

In 2013 Lotus Cuisine of India restaurant in downtown San Rafael renovated with a state-of-the-art energy-efficient kitchen and environmentally-friendly appliances. Then Lotus became a certified Bay Area Green Business.
The amazing Lotus menus got an eco-upgrade as well. We have added many more organic, healthy, local and non-GMO ingredients!
Now we are excited to announce that All three Lotus restaurants have gone ALL ORGANIC!
Check out some of the organic ingredients now used:
Vegetable Oil / Canola Oil – is from a non-GMO verified project. Canola oil is low in calories and fat, this oil is not only heart friendly, but also contains omega-3 as well as omega-6.
Soy Products (Soy Sauce, Tofu, Soy Oil) – we use organic tofu for all our soy products
Zucchini or Crookneck Squash – we buy our supply from an organic farm in Watsonville near Santa Cruz.
Sugar – we are sourcing organic sugar
Honey – Lotus uses organic honey. There are many nutritional benefits we can get from honey and also a good source of natural sugar.
Corn – We not use any corn GMO products.
Eggs and dairy Products – all organic from Clover Farms
Poultry – Lotus only uses natural and organic Chicken
Meat – our meat source is from Fulton Valley Farms. We also do not use any beef.
Produce – fresh and organic produce is from West Coast Produce in Oakland
Lotus Cuisine of India has now achieved over 80% certified organic. Over 25% of our ingredients are now Non-GMO certified or sustainable.
We are also a member of MARIN ORGANIC in order to support local organic farmers.
