In 2013 Lotus Cuisine of India restaurant in downtown San Rafael renovated with a state-of-the-art energy-efficient kitchen and environmentally-friendly appliances. Then Lotus became a certified Bay Area Green Business.
The amazing Lotus menus got an eco-upgrade as well. We have added many more organic, healthy, local and non-GMO ingredients!
Now we are excited to announce that All three Lotus restaurants have gone ALL ORGANIC!
Check out some of the organic ingredients now used:
Vegetable Oil / Canola Oil – is from a non-GMO verified project. Canola oil is low in calories and fat, this oil is not only heart friendly, but also contains omega-3 as well as omega-6.
Soy Products (Soy Sauce, Tofu, Soy Oil) – we use organic tofu for all our soy products
Zucchini or Crookneck Squash – we buy our supply from an organic farm in Watsonville near Santa Cruz.
Sugar – we are sourcing organic sugar
Honey – Lotus uses organic honey. There are many nutritional benefits we can get from honey and also a good source of natural sugar.
Corn – We not use any corn GMO products.
Eggs and dairy Products – all organic from Clover Farms
Poultry – Lotus only uses natural and organic Chicken

“When you need to satisfy that irresistible craving for Indian food, jump on your elephant and head for Lotus Cuisine of India in San Rafael. Owner Surinder “Pal” Sroa and his family members share the exotic recipes and spices of India that they grew up with, in a charming and cozy setting with Indian decor. They have received lots of accolades over the years, and are even ZAGAT-rated. In 2013, they completely renovated the place and are now a certified green business serving the finest organic Indian food. Sroa also strongly believes in giving back to the community. Every Thanksgiving, they serve free dinners to anyone who shows up. Last year they served more than 1,000 dinners. “This is very good for your karma,” Sroa says. It’s a tradition he learned from his parents.”
We would like also to congratulate our sister restaurant, Café Lotus in Fairfax for winning the 2nd spot.
Thank you for all our supporters!

Lotus is not just a family-owned, North Indian restaurant that specializes in the finest local, organic and fresh Indian food. Lotus is an active part in the community. Sure you can visit Lotus and have an incredible choice of food including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and non-GMO. But what really makes Lotus shine is the people.
Surinder (Pal) Sroa, who owns Lotus with his wife Linda, is generous, warm, and welcoming, and has always lived by the principle of giving back to his community. Pal and his staff have been actively helping to end hunger in Marin County with their free Thanksgiving Dinners and donations to soup kitchens and food banks. Now Lotus restaurant is also providing the Marin County nonprofit ExtraFood with food through their Planned Giving program which delivers food to those who are less fortunate. This means that every other week, Lotus chefs cook some extra meals for the most vulnerable Marin County seniors. And the recipients love Lotus!
