Where’s the Beef?

Written by jacqui. Posted in News

Lotus do not serve beef Where's the Beef? SacredCow
Our vegetarian meals are truly so tasty you might not even noticed it, but Lotus does not serve any beef dishes. It’s true, in India cows are considered sacred animals, a tradition that comes from striving to live in harmony with the land. We at Lotus also have this reverence for cows, and so we don’t serve beef. Non-vegetarians will still find meat dishes atLotus. We serve chicken (ask for our organic chicken!) and lamb dishes as well as seafood selections with fish and prawns.

Urgent Advice about Food Allergies

Written by jacqui. Posted in News, Other

Food Allergies Urgent Advice about Food Allergies food 20allergiesThe number of Americans affected by food allergies is getting higher every year. Here at Lotus our staff has been made allergy aware. We know that food allergies can be a potentially serious medical condition. We believe that everyone should have a wonderful dining experience with us, so we are doing what we can to accommodate all guests with food allergies and dietary restrictions.

The eight most common food allergens are peanuts, tree nuts, milk, egg, wheat, soy, fish, and shellfish.

Food intolerances are not life-threatening. The most common intolerances are towards lactose, wheat and gluten products, sugar, and corn products. Celiac disease is considered a food intolerance although technically it is an autoimmune disorder caused by gluten.

Lotus uses milk, egg, wheat, soy, fish and shellfish as well as cashews, almonds and raisins in our meals. We do NOT use peanuts or peanut oil.

If you have any food allergies or dietary restrictions please let us know! Tell your waiter when you order your food or include a comment with your online order.

New State Laws Affect All California Restaurants

Restaurants water conservation awareness New State Laws Affect All California Restaurants caldine1903 620 413 100In year four now, the worst drought is California history is getting worse. New state laws were enacted March 2015 that affect all California restaurants.

Servers in bars, restaurants and cafeterias can’t bring out water unless customers ask. This is meant to raise conservation awareness more than save water. Violators face fines up to $500 a day.

Please ask your waiter if you would like a glass of water. We also will no longer provide refills without asking first.

We will post this information to our website and social media and inform our customers.

Thank you for your understanding and also for your own efforts to conserve water. Please share your water conservation efforts with us online.
