Sign petition to save the elephants

Save the Elephant

If you are a U.S. citizen or resident over 13 years of age, you can help to stop the ivory trade. Starting May 1 and until May 30, please go to www.ElephantsUSA.org and click the link to the petition. (You must first register at petitions.whitehouse.gov, and then respond to an email that confirms that you are not a robot.) African elephants are on the decline, and continue to be killed for their tusks. The U.S. is the second largest importer of ivory, and every piece of ivory represents a dead elephant.

The petition is asking the president to ban all imports of ivory into the United States and to stop the ivory trade. One elephant is killed every 15 minutes in Africa, and these gentle giants are remarkable beings. They nurse their young for at least three years and stay in close family herds for their entire lives. They mourn their dead and even their beloved human keepers if they were raised as orphaned babies by humans.

Thank you for visiting www.ElephantsUSA.org starting on May 1. You may save the life of an amazing animal. To help distribute literature about this campaign or to learn more about it, contact the California lead for the People’s Petition for Elephants: Patricia Joanides at 415 488 0745.
